Landmark Logo Creative Study
Logo Challenge & Progression of Creative Process For this logo project, I was challenged to create a logo for a famous landmark. I chose the Eiffel Tower because I adore Paris, and I love the curves of the Eiffel Tower. I started with some sketches, exploring design styles including figure/ground, implied depth, flat, detail, and simplified. I decided on my favorite sketches for each style, and I then refined the sketches into 1 color symbols. Once I had 5 different styles of the graphic symbol, I picked my favorite, which was the implied-depth style. Next, I added type to the implied-depth symbol and finalized the 1 color logo. I then explored the logo in 2 color, 3 color and gradient options. I decided that the blue, red, and white logo was the best and most appropriate because the french flag is blue, red, and white. After finalizing the 2 color logo, I applied the logo to several different mock-ups including what an enamel pin might look like, a patch, a postcard, and an environmental sign.
